Diana & Hongbo’s Wedding at Bay Oaks Country Club in Clear Lake
A Beautiful Blend of Chinese and American Traditions
Diana and Hongbo’s wedding at Bay Oaks Country Club in Clear Lake, Texas was a beautiful celebration that gracefully blended Chinese cultural traditions with classic American wedding elements. As a Houston wedding photographer, I love capturing weddings that are both personal and meaningful—and this one was filled with unforgettable moments from start to finish.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony by the Lake
The ceremony took place outdoors under a floral arch nestled next to the scenic lake. With blue skies and the peaceful water behind them, Diana and Hongbo exchanged heartfelt vows surrounded by friends and family. It was a stunning setting, and the natural light made every moment glow.

Elegant Ballroom Wedding Reception at Bay Oaks
After the ceremony, guests were welcomed into the Bay Oaks Country Club ballroom, which features grand windows and an abundance of natural light. This space is not only elegant—it also photographs beautifully, making it an ideal venue for both daytime and evening receptions.
Diana and Hongbo shared a romantic first dance as husband and wife, followed by a delicious dinner and a series of touching toasts. Their church choir also performed a special song, adding a heartfelt and spiritual touch to the celebration.

Traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony and Wardrobe Change
A highlight of the evening was the traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Diana changed into a gorgeous red qipao, a symbol of good luck and joy in Chinese culture. During this intimate moment, the couple served tea to their parents as a gesture of gratitude and respect—an emotional and meaningful tradition that honors family in a beautiful way.
Anniversary Dance and Honoring Long-Lasting Love
To celebrate the love stories that came before them, Diana and Hongbo invited all the married couples onto the dance floor for an anniversary dance. As the music played and couples slowly stepped away, the final pair remaining was Diana’s own parents, who were recognized for having the longest marriage among the guests. It was such a touching tribute to lasting love and the importance of family legacy.
